Biography
Dr. Yang’s research centers on fostering an environmentally and socially responsible built environment. She specializes in simulation modeling, data analytics, and computational design at both architectural and urban scales, with a particular emphasis on human-environment interactions. Her work involves developing innovative simulation tools and computational solutions to promote sustainable and equitable design practices. Her research has been funded by institutions including the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability, the Cornell Center for Technology Licensing, the Center for Transportation, Environment, and Community Health (CTECH), and the Jefferson Institute for Smart & Healthy Cities.
Dr. Yang received her PhD in Systems Engineering from Cornell University, where she focused on developing data-driven human behavioral simulation tools to empower computational urban and building design. She earned an M.S. in Advanced Architectural Design from Cornell University in 2019, an M.Arch from Tongji University in 2017, and a B.Eng from Tongji University in 2014. Prior to joining the College of Architecture & the Built Environment at Thomas Jefferson University, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Assistant at the Environmental Systems Lab in the College of Art, Architecture, and Planning at Cornell University.
