Bio
Katherine (Katie) Grillo has a BS in GIS and Environmental Studies from Central CT State University. After graduating, Katie moved towards a career in environmental conservation and community development at a volunteer travel organization. Her role led her to participate in numerous projects in Costa Rica, Mexico, Thailand, and South Africa. She later moved to Boston, MA and has been with the City of Cambridge GIS since 2013. As a GIS Web Technology Specialist, she is involved in a variety of different projects, primarily focusing on ArcGIS Story Maps, Interactive Maps, and 3D data and visualizations.
In addition to her full-time efforts in Cambridge, Katie also volunteers within the Northeast Arc Users Group (NEARC) where she served on the Board of Directors for two years before being elected Chair of the Board in 2020. She has organized multiple virtual and in-person GIS Community Events, given annual conference presentations for NEARC, and was also invited to speak at the ESRI User Conference in 2018. She has been an Adjunct Professor with Jefferson since 2020 where she shares her expertise and passion for GIS and modern mapping technologies.
