11th Street Bridge Park: Bridging Communities
OMA+OLIN’s winning design for the 11th Street Bridge Park Competition connects two historically disparate sides of the Anacostia River with a series of rooms and active zones, including two sloped ramps that elevate visitors to maximized look-out points to landmarks in either direction. The form of the bridge creates an iconic encounter, an “X” instantly recognizable as the river’s new image.

With more than seventeen years of professional experience in landscape architecture, Darrell Campana joined OLIN in 2011. In addition to his role as an Associate, Darrell is OLIN’s CAD Operations and Data Manager. He is responsible for the education of staff in the utilization of efficient techniques for software programs and data management, and collaborates with project teams to provide regular reviews of construction documents. Additionally, Darrell is also a Team Leader for the office, where he is in charge of hiring staff and making daily staffing decisions for the office. Darrell is currently working on such projects as the 11th Street Bridge Park, The National Geographic Headquarters in Washington, DC, as well the Chicago Tribune Tower Redevelopment project. He has also engaged in many university projects at locations such as Swarthmore College, Georgetown University, University of Delaware, and the Ohio State University, to name a few. Darrell earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at The Pennsylvania State University and serves as an Adjunct Professor at both Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania.
