CABE Dean Barbara Klinkhammer to Receive Top 100 Visionaries in Education Recognition

Barbara Klinkhammer, dean of the College of Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), has been named as being among the Top 100 Visionaries in Education by the Global Forum for Education and Learning (GFEL).

The international award will be conferred at GFEL USA 2020, scheduled for December at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Nominees were judged on five parameters: overall reach, industry impact, spirit of innovation, future readiness and market demand. Cutoff scores in each category were 75 out of 100, and Klinkhammer averaged nearly 90 across the board in the awards-nomination committee’s eyes.

Klinkhammer, who will be part of the “What Does Resilience Mean Now” panel session of the Gensler/Skanska speaker series on July 29, is the co-founder of Jefferson’s Institute for Smart and Healthy Cities.

She also proudly announced that two new CABE programs will launch in fall 2021: a master of urban design and graduate certificate in smart cities and urban analytics.

“I am very honored to be selected for the Top 100 Visionaries in Education Award by the Global Forum for Education and Learning,” Klinkhammer says. “As an educator, I am dedicated to transforming the educational landscape for future design professionals to create a socially equitable and sustainable future for all.”

The award was celebrated by her Jefferson peers.

“Barbara is a great colleague and friend and is very deserving of the recognition,” says Ronald Kander, executive dean of the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce. “I always find it a pleasure to work with her on collaborative projects between our two colleges.”
